Extra virgin olive oil is not just an oil like all others. It is not just a liquid to help us in cooking, nor it is just a way to flavor our food. Extra virgin olive oil comes directly from the cold-pressed olive juice, carrying all the power of a tree whose DNA spans many thousands of years.
It is not chemically processed. It does not contain foreign elements or at least it should not. It has nothing to do with vegetable oils, the refined ones that come from the crushing of seeds and then are chemically purified. These are only carcinogenic to our body.
Extra virgin olive oil is “loaded” with antioxidants and vitamins. Its protective effect on our health is immense starting from inflammations, arteriosclerosis, chronic diseases, heart attack, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, rheumatoid arthritis, brain functions and many more.
In the end, it is probably not a coincidence that in the history of ancient Greece, the olive tree was given as a gift by goddess Athena to the Athenians in order to choose her as the city’s protector over Poseidon. The all-knowing Goddess chose to give us such a gift that over the centuries remains number one for our health.
Every spoonful of extra virgin olive oil is a gift to our body. A gift of health and wellness. A gift that can accompany us in the most beautiful moments of the day; those that we take care of ourselves and our loved ones.
From our delicious morning pancakes, our favorite snacks, our main meal or our dinner, extra virgin olive oil has won its place with us and its effect on our lives are so positive that it can only be part of our daily life.
So extra virgin olive oil is sacred and it is essential for our health as well as enjoyable for our palate.
